****IFP INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS SERIES****

Starting in February, IFP/Los Angeles will present its annual Independent Producer Series. Over the course of six weeks, top professionals from the independent film community will explore the role of the producer from the inception of a project through the distribution of a film. Producer Peggy Rajski (Home for the Holidays, The Grifters) will serve as this year's moderator.

February 15 - Independent in a Studio World?
Studio independent divisions, first-look deals, producers working inside and outside of the studio system-have the boundaries between these two worlds been completely erased? Is it possible for independent filmmakers to stay "truly independent" and find an audience? Our kick-off session will focus on the current state of affairs between the indie and studio realms. Players from both sides of fence talk about being independent versus working with a studio and how the two relate.

February 22 - Acquiring and Developing Material
This week, the Producer Series explores how to determine what stories and existing materials have great potential for an independent film. Discover the sources for these materials as well as the legal issues of optioning existing literary works and acquiring rights.

February 29 - Three Stages of Producing
With three topics to choose from-Creating a Business Plan, Budgeting and Scheduling, or Surviving Post-attendees will be able to tailor the series content to their particular needs.

March 5 - Packaging and Financing
Packaging and Financing explores the financial opportunities available for independent filmmakers.

March 12 - Running the Set
